exploring an untamed life
Shamanic weekend retreat in the Peak District National Park
Friday 30th June - Sunday 2nd July 2023
Finding Sanctuary - Unlocking Your Potential
Do you sometimes feel you get lost in everyday life? Are you looking to find a way to live in the world without losing yourself?
As life hurtles on by it's so easy to think we have no option but to be swept along in the torrent of 'stuff'. We may even begin to think that this is the way life is and we can do nothing more than cope with it.
There is a different way of living. This is living a connected life in tune with our wild self, our natural self, our ancestral self.
On this workshop we'll explore the paths our ancestors trod as they lived close to nature, embraced their wild self and had a much more fulfilling earthly existence. Come and share a soulful experience in the Peak District National Park, one of Britain's iconic landscapes.
Nestled deep in the hills of the Peak District National Park, spend time close to the Summer Solstice as part of this special tribal gathering. Journey back to a time when the dog was wolf and humans were undomesticated. It is time to reawaken that untamed part of us which knows there is a different life waiting, away from the daily grind of a Twenty First Century existence.
The weekend will include drumming, shamanic journeying, ceremony, star-gazing, meadow bathing, star gazing, campfire sharing and flexing our creative muscles.
We will work with the power of the sun at its highest and tune into the wisdom of the great animals that roamed these hills thousands of years ago to help us re-discover something of the wildness of our ancestors.
Explore your inner wild and reclaim that untamed part deep within you. Rediscover your free and creative self.
- Explore your inner wild and rekindle that untamed part deep within you
- Bathe in the Summer Solstice energies of courage and creativity and embrace these in your life
- Connect with the wild animals that used to roam our land, Wolf, Bear, Lynx and Wild boar from our animal oracle card deck.
- Reflect on the freedom our very distant ancestors had living in a hunter-gatherer society and learn how to hold that in us now
- Work with the ancient connection technique of shamanic journeying to meet your spiritual tribe
- Experience the ritual of a medicine walk to receive messages from nature on your next step ahead
- Share soulful time around the campfire with songs, stories and drumming
Awakening Your Inner Wild
A Homecoming
Something happens deep within us when we are in nature. When we still ourselves amongst the beauty we can hear ourselves more clearly. We can come home.
The Wisdom of The Land
Spending time connecting with ancient places is so powerful. It gives us insights which can have a profound impact on our lives. It's an incredible and easy way to access universal wisdom.
A Creative Practice
Experience a regular creative practice that will lead you to a more spacious life, a deep connection with y our true self and a real sense of achievement.
An Iconic Location
The Peak District National Park is one of our national treasures. We are hidden away within the hills overlooking Derwent Reservoir, close to Kinder Scout, the location of the Mass Trespass.
Finding Your Purpose
By setting our clear intention, celebrating it in a ceremony and seeking the cooperation of our guides we give ourselves the best chance of realising our dreams.
Embracing Shamanic Tools
Working with shamanic journeying, deep nature connection and ancient myths we will access life-changing tools that our ancestors used for guidance and healing.
Rekindling the Flame of Your Life
Do you sense that something needs to change? That it's time to engage more fully with your wilder self? Once you begin to explore this aspect of your being you will find the momentum to make those changes, to embrace the untamed you and claim back that which you have lost.
Deep within each of us whispers a calling to find that precious part that has been denied, the wild twin of old fairy tales. This is what makes us truly human and able to live more in balance with the Earth and ourself.
Our ancestors embraced their wild side and on this weekend we will be seeking their help to prepare a room in our beautiful heart to welcome home our own wild twin.
Working with ancient shamanic techniques including journeying on the drum, reading messages from nature and gentle ritual we will build a deeper connection to our true and creative self.
A Little Bit about Us.
Between us we, Nicola and Jason, have trodden this path for many decades working to release the invisible shackles given to us by culture and unleashing our inner wild.
We have moved from being in stagnant and unfulfilling work to fully embracing our creativity and discovering the true depths of ourselves and the joy that this can bring us.
Because of this we are excited and passionate about working with and helping others master their own wild potential.
We are delighted to be able to bring to you this unique experience in the heart of one of the beautiful Peak District National Park, working at the height of summer close to the Solstice, and linking in with our ancient ancestors into a time when our wild selves were interwoven with the wild Earth.
What the Workshop Entails?
You will spend the weekend immersed in nature in the heart of the Peak District National Park with its sweeping hills, rocky outcrops and stunning views.
We are nestled in an cosy, former farm, called Lockerbrook Farm, which means ‘safe place by the water’. Hidden away high up in the hills, it is the perfect place to work on the big questions in life. There is a bed for everyone and the option of camping too in the adjacent meadow.
Friday evening
Once you arrive there will be time to settle in. Some people will choose to camp, and others to stay in the dormitories. After dinner we will settle down and introduce ourselves and the programme for the weekend will be explained. We will then tell the fairy-tale story of the wild twin, which we will be working with through the weekend.
Saturday
We will spend some time exploring the lifestyle of our distant ancestors, our prehistoric ancestors, looking at how they spent their time and how it was to live in the wild, with the wild. Our focus of the weekend is going to be experiencing what life was like as a hunter-gatherer, before the dawn of agriculture.
During the day you will meet your spiritual tribe through a shamanic journey and begin to build an on-going relationship with them. You will then begin to connect in with the wild animals that used to roam this land, by choosing your animal to work with for the weekend, from Wolf, Bear, Lynx and Wild boar from our animal oracle card deck.
You will bathe in the summer solstice energies of courage and creativity to support you in the rewilding of your life.
Saturday evening
We will share stories around the campfire, poems and writings, songs and laughter.
Sunday
You will spend some time reflecting on the freedom our very distant ancestors had living in a tribal society and learn how you can hold that within you now. You will experience the ritual of a shamanic medicine walk through the wild flower meadows, where you will receive messages from nature advising on your next step ahead.
Each morning
We will begin our day by sharing our dreams and flexing our creative muscles with a little poetry or other creative expression.
There will be plenty of space to explore the immediate area.
You will learn or deepen further into ancient shamanic techniques of British Shamanism, including shamanic journeying, ritual and nature connection.
The weekend will be rounded off with a Solstice fire ceremony, where you will set your affirmation to make a home in your heart for your wild twin.

I have found what has been missing in my life.
"I was expecting to immerse myself in the landscape. What I didn't expect was the magic of immersing into the community and an awareness that this is what has been missing in my life. I was able to visualise when journeying for the first time and received a message which was a huge milestone for me."
Sarah
I really enjoyed being in like-minded company
"I really enjoyed being in like-minded and supportive company in such a beautiful location.
I have come to realise that we are just a speck on the Earth's timeline and that there is so much wisdom to discover.“

Learning from the old ones.
Our civilized world has all but stamped out anything wild and continues to do so. In a society were the wild is far from honoured, we will be wise to link back into a time where it was celebrated.
Through shamanic journeying, held within the landscape that held these wild animals, we can meet the beasts themselves and those who lived amongst them.
We can ask for guidance on how we can bring this lost wild back into our lives and the benefits this will bring us.
Learning in community.
We learn so much in community. It can be hard to find that community in a world where people who think and feel completely differently to us surround us every day.
The Way of the Buzzard is a place where we can gather. Where those people who don’t fit in to a world they don’t understand congregate, because they were born to create a different one. And where better to do this than around the campfire.
In the evenings we will warm our bodies and our hearts next to the soft orange glow of hot embers and flickering flames. We will share stories, poems, sorrows and joys and awaken the deep bone memory of what community is really about.
Coming home to Nature.
Our stiffness is softening as we take the winding road back to nature. We follow the gentle contours, noticing more and more the magic around us.
Only three generations ago we knew no flower meadows or autumn woodlands, we had never seen a waterfall, or walked barefoot on a beach feeling the sand between our toes.
The sound of the ocean was unknown to us, as was the call of the cuckoo announcing spring. We hadn’t seen a sunset over the snowy mountain top, or looked into the pond at our own reflection.
All we knew were factory chimneys, air thick with smoke, the constant noise of the industrial unmaking of ourselves.
Now we have choices and freedom if only we reach out and take hold. Now it is our time to become nature once again.

The Summer Day
Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean--
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down --
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don't know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
With your one wild and precious life?
