The Tribe
finding our way back home

a new online retreat from The Way of The Buzzard

This online retreat has now ended but please feel free to look over this page to give you a flavour of what our online retreats look like

“The most powerful meditation we can do now is critical thinking followed by action. Discern what your world is. Know the plot, the scenario of this human drama. Then figure out where your talents might fit into making a better world.” Dalai Lama

We are at a crossroads

This global pause is giving us an opportunity take a deep breath and reflect on where we are and where we would like to go, both as humanity and also in our own approach to life.

But how do we get a sense of direction as to where we are collectively and individually going now? And how to we forge that new path?

It may seem counter-intuitive, but one way we can determine the path ahead is to look behind us to where we have come from. We can look back to a time when we lived very differently, when we lived as tribes, indigenous with the land.

From this viewpoint we can ask questions such as, what was lost? How did we change as a result? What can we learn from this and bring into the new world we want to step in to?

Armed with this insight we can then look forward and create our vision for the future; we can ask ourselves what part we want to play and what our place will be in the new order of things.

Our online weekend retreat

This weekend retreat will be an opportunity to explore all of these questions. Together, from our own homes, we will immerse in the energies of the ancient landscape of the upper valleys of the Yorkshire Dales, under the watchful gaze of Ingleborough, a sacred mountain to our distant ancestors.

Held over the weekend of the Summer Solstice, we will be working with the Solstice energies of power and strength. We will envision what this new world will look like and find ideas on how we can begin to live this now to find our sense of direction, and we will work with tree spirit medicine and the message that Ash has for us as the tree of knowledge and equilibrium.

There will be a healing drum bath as the Solstice sun sets in the sky, immersive meditative videos of the wildflower meadows and waterfall and streams around Ingleborough. There will be shamanic journeying, creativity time, reflective time and nature time, as well as a ceremony to set your intentions going forward at the end of the weekend

come and join us to:

  • Tune in with our tribal ancestors - learn how they viewed life and discover what they can teach us
  • Meet your spiritual tribe in the Other World - through shamanic journeying, and get their support
  • Get a sense of direction in your life - and break through any feelings you have of being lost or stuck
  • Connect deeply with nature - and hear the wisdom that is held their for us
  • Prioritise time for you - clear your mind, find your focus and reconnect with what is important
  • Learn to tolerate -this 'between two worlds' place we find ourselves in, as one is falling away and another emerging

Why learn from us?

Between us, Jason and Nicola, we have trodden this path for many decades, finding our way forward to a new way of being in the world.

We have learned how to hear the quiet voices within us and from the Otherworlds, guiding us along the way, and from this we have moved from being in stagnant and unfulfilling work to fully embracing our creativity and discovering the true depths of ourselves and the joy that this can bring us.

Because of this we are excited and passionate about working with others who desire to come back to the earth and carve a new path for both themselves and the wider community.

We are delighted to be able to bring to you this unique experience tuning in with, immersing in one of the UK's most iconic locations, the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Working at the height of summer close to the Solstice, and linking in with our ancient ancestors into a time when our wild selves were interwoven with the wild Earth.

What others say

We ran our first online weekend retreat over Beltane early in May and here are what some of the participants shared about the experience

Before Space to Emerge Online I felt stuck and unable to move

“Before Space to Emerge Online I felt stuck and unable to move. The weekend sounded really interesting and something that I wanted to do.

I had an amazing time and thoroughly enjoyed every single minute, having re-discovered me, thank you!

I have loved learning all about animal and plant medicine, journeying to faraway lands, and exploring my inner creativity which has now burst forth and wants to he acknowledged at last.”

Hilary

I feel so glad to have a place where I can go to plug in and recharge

“I have been feeling very up and down emotionally and I wanted some time for me to receive.

After the weekend I felt peaceful, restored, stronger, grateful, creative and ready to face the week of work again. Thank you so much.

I have been feeling gratitude throughout this week for the special space that you held/hold for so many of us. I feel so glad to have a place where I can go to plug in and recharge”.

Emma

It was a great weekend and I look forward to more online connections with you

“I was looking for something spiritual to do over the Beltane weekend and then I saw your retreat.

It was a topic I have some experience in, but I was keen to know more, and I was in need of a spiritual reboot.

My home has not been the most relaxing of environments for lockdown and I was feeling trapped and low because I couldn't change my surroundings.

After the weekend I am now feeling inspired by what I had learnt and also more accepting of my home and confident that I could make something positive out of a negative.

It was a great weekend and I look forward to more online connections with you.”

What will the Weekend Involve?

The focus of the weekend will be to explore how we find our way back home through the concept of the Tribe

Friday Evening

Beginning at 7pm we will set the scene for the weekend and open the circle. During the evening there will be a guided shamanic journey to meet with your spiritual tribe in the Lowerworld.

Saturday and Sunday

We will begin each morning with a special nature meditation, drifting off together to the waterfalls and wildflower meadows of the Yorkshire Dales

Then we will flex our creativity through a simple morning practice of reading poetry and allowing our collective words to flow through some creative writing and sharing.

Saturday

After a tea break on Saturday morning we will present the focus of the day through a talk looking into the lives of our Neolithic ancestors, with special guest speaker Tom Lord, who is a farmer and archeologist at Lower Winskill Farm in the Yorkshire Dales, where we are basing our Online retreat.

Before we break for lunch, we will guide you on a shamanic journey to experience the tribal life.

On Saturday afternoon you will then have plenty of space to tune in with nature, in or around your home or out on a walk, to solidify some of the ideas and experiences you have gained through the retreat so far.

Then if you would like to join us for an optional Pop-Up Talk on Saturday afternoon, we will be holding a session on working tuning in with the wisdom of Ash and seeing what this tree can guide us to learning important truths about ourselves.

On Saturday evening we have a special night planned to the setting of the Solstice sun. You will be guided on a shamanic journey to vision the future, before you then immerse yourself in a healing drum bath to drift off to as we show a video of the sun setting behind Ingleborough mountain.

Sunday

On Sunday morning, following the nature visualisation meditation and creativity writing morning practice we will discuss what we can learn from tribal life and how we can bring this into our modern world.

We will also spend time reflecting on how we can tolerate this often difficult space in-between stories, as one world falls away and the other one emerges.

During the afternoon you will have some space to be creative and create a nature mandala in preparation for the closing ceremony.

The closing ceremony will be late afternoon on the Sunday. We will help you decide on your intention for the ceremony and then hold the space for you to set it before closing the circle.

Join us to tune in to tribal wisdom and create a path into a new way of being
Spend time with like-minded people in community getting that retreat experience away but without needing to leave home

Yes, it will mean investing a little of your time and money and take yourself away from your everyday responsibilities. It may even feel overindulgent and raise a conflict inside you about whether you can justify giving yourself this space and investment.

But in this great global pause there is no time like the present to reach out and get a little help to give you what you most need.

By taking time out, creating a vision for the future and learning how to listen to the guidance to help you along the way, this will drive you forward to find a new way of being in the world, a sense of belonging and a clearer direction.

Here are some of the words people shared about how they were affected by our previous online retreat:

Lighter, joyful, blown away, happy, uplifted, positive, energised, thankful, blessed, fulfilled, enlightened, elated, creative, relaxed, inspired, revitalised, hopeful, rejuvenated, connected, relaxed, confident, reconnected, focused, whole, balanced, compassionate, peaceful, restored, stronger, grateful, nurtured, belonging, amazing, exhilarated

There are so many benefits to joining us.
Here are our top 5.

A Homecoming

Something happens deep within us when we are in nature. When we still ourselves amongst beauty we can hear ourselves more clearly. We come home. During this weekend we will drop into nature time together and demonstrate that it is possible to do this without even leaving home.

Seeking answers from the Otherworlds

The ancient techniques of shamanic journeying and deep nature connection have been used by humanity for tens of thousands of years. They are incredible, easy ways to access deep universal wisdom. Why leave it to your limited conscious mind to come up with all the answers!

Embracing Shamanic Tools

Working with shamanic journeying and deep nature connection we will access life-changing tools that our ancestors used for guidance and healing.

Being in Community

Share soulful time with like-minded travellers who, like you, are seeking ways to become more expansive in a different world.

Setting Intentions

Without a clear intention we don’t know where we will be heading, so by deciding this and putting it out there in ceremony, we give ourselves the best chance of realising our dreams.
