The Spring Equinox energies
The Spring Equinox is a point of balance, where the sun rises and sets exactly twelve hours apart. Spring is well underway, with the daffodils proudly trumpeting their arrival and the first chicks having already hatched into the world. Buds are swelling, grass is growing, and the birds are busy nest-building with beaks full of twigs, mud and moss.
It is a powerful time and the perfect moment to birth some of our Special Collection drums. We will create these from reindeer hides and the Triskele inside the ash hoop. The Triskele is made up of three spirals entwining together. It dates back to the Neolithic era, and it is among the oldest spiritual symbols.
In line with the Spring Equinox energies, we have chosen the crystal labradorite for self-discovery, dragonstone for personal power and carnelian for courage.
You and Your Drum
Your drum will have been made specifically for you and holds the energy which speaks to you most at this time.
It is your sacred tool providing an extension to you for all your healing work, whether it be self-healing, healing others or helping heal the Earth.

Your drum will be made from reindeer hide and will be 16-inches in diameter.
Our 1- inch drums are our most popular sized drums as they are easy to hold and have a lovely deep tone.
The hide is from reindeer who run wild on the Scandinavian tundra. Each year they are brought down and the older ones carefully selected for the cull in a tradition that has spanned thousands of years. Their meat is an important food source, and their skins are a by-product of this process. Usually light in colour these hides have been dyed to give them this beautiful dark mottled texture.
The overarching energy of Reindeer is perseverance. The reindeer has an incredible ability to persevere under challenging environments, and across great distances too, some travelling as far as 3,000 miles in one season.
Their energy teaches us that great things are possible in our lives. In their surefootedness, they can support us to utilise our internal gifts so that we can be as equally sure-footed in any situation. This helps us to easily walk through any challenges which may come our way as we walk our path to realise our dreams.
Within each drum, we embed a crystal and craft a fluffy handle, which makes the drum comfortable to hold for those longer drumming sessions.
The Birthing of Your Drum
We will birth your drum at the time of the Spring Equinox. Once we have birthed your drum, we will carry out a special awakening ceremony. We will call in the four directions Earth, Air, Fire and Water, smudge your drum with a special awakening incense and call in the Spirit of the Drum.
To birth your drum, we spend time preparing your hoop by sanding it down, painting on the Triskele motif and finishing it with a layer of bee’s wax, from rescued bees in Lancashire, to bring out the beautiful grain in the wood.
The ash drum frame is made locally by a carpenter.
Sourcing locally and as ethically as possible is important to us, and we take care to understand where all of our materials come from.
We will bind the hoop in coloured suede, cut out the reindeer hide and then carefully craft your drum.
Your drum will take around seven days to dry as we don’t rush the drying process, and instead allow your drum to dry in the spring air.
Then once we have fixed the crystal handle, we will post your drum to you via our courier.
The Birthing of Your Drum
We will birth your drum at the time of the Summer Solstice. Once we have birthed your drum, we will carry out a special awakening ceremony. We will call in the four directions Earth, Air, Fire and Water, smudge your drum with a special awakening incense and call in the Spirit of the Drum.
To birth your drum, we spend time preparing your hoop by sanding it down, painting on the sun motif and finishing it with a layer of bee’s wax, from rescued bees in Lancashire, to bring out the beautiful grain in the wood.

Sourcing locally and as ethically as possible is important to us, and we take care to understand where all of our materials come from.
