The Moon of Horses Approaches
Our next Full Moon is approaching to adorn our skies at the end of June, and being just a week after the Solstice it is right at the height of Summer. So we are making preparations and getting really excited to be bringing you a new Horse drum in our Special Collection range.
Our Celtic Ancestors called this moon the Moon of Horses.
This is a powerful time of the year, where the days are long and the sun at it’s highest point in the sky. Horse energy teams up beautifully with the energies of nature right now, bringing the qualities of strength, motivation, and drive.

Your drum will be made from horse hide and will be 16 inches in diameter.
The hide is from UK horses which have come to the end of their life via euthanasia. We only use British horse hide for our drums because we have an assurance of the quality of life.
Our 16-inch drums are our most popular sized drums as they are easy to hold and have a lovely deep tone.
The fluffy handle design makes the drums really comfortable to hold for those longer drumming sessions and provides a good base for the energising crystal.
The Birthing of Your Drum
We will birth your drum during the daytime on Thursday 28th June 2018. We spend time preparing your hoop by sanding it down and finishing it with a layer of bees wax from rescued bees in Lancashire to bring out the beautiful grain in the wood.
The timber which makes the drum frame is sourced from Ash trees grown in the UK, and is made locally by a carpenter who lives in the next town along from our home.
Sourcing locally and as ethically as possible is something which is really important to us, and we take care to understand where all of our materials come from.
We will bind the hoop in coloured suede, cut out the horse hide and then carefully craft your drum.
In the evening, once the Moon of Horses has risen in the sky we will take your drum outside and carry out a special awakening ceremony. We will create a mandala and, calling in the four directions Earth, Air, Fire and Water, smudge your drum with a special awakening incense and invoke the Spirit of the Drum.
