Our next Full Moon is approaching to embellish our skies at the end of May, which will be a Blue Moon and right at the height of spring.
In Medieval England, the full moon in May was called the Hare Moon.
Hare embodies the energy of Freedom, as unlike a rabbit, it can’t be tamed. It symbolises freedom, a reminder that we all have a wild nature and that our souls are calling out to run free.
We will be working with these energies as we birth a new collection of our special-edition shamanic drums.
Birthed and awakened in ceremony, these shamanic drums will be made from reindeer hide and ash. You can choose from three sizes, 14-inch (SOLD OUT), 16-inch, and 18-inch, and two crystals: galaxite or moonstone.

Working with the Hare Moon Energies
Each of the full moons has a name, and our English ancestors in Medieval England called the May full moon the Hare Moon.
As Hare cannot be tamed, it symbolises freedom, a reminder that we all have a wild nature and that our souls are calling out to run free. Hare quickly twists and turns, running at great speed. Its energy is about overcoming fears and aiming for those dreams without letting anything get in our way. Through Hare, we can turn fear into faith and doubt into opportunity.
As this is the Hare Moon and a Blue Moon, we’ll carefully paint the outline of a Hare inside the hoop, alongside a blue moon crescent. This will forever be a reminder of the special time of year your drum was birthed.
You and Your Drum
Your drum will have been made specifically for you and holds the energy which speaks to you most at this time.
It is your sacred tool providing an extension to you for all your healing work, whether it be self-healing, healing others or helping heal the Earth.
Please be aware that every drum is unique and the patterning and colouration of both the reindeer hide and the crystal will differ slightly from each other.

Your drum will be made from reindeer hide.

The 14-inch drums are the most portable and tend to have a higher pitch than the larger drums.
Our 16-inch drums are often seen as a great compromise between transportability and depth of voice.
The larger 18-inch drum has a greater presence than the smaller drums and a deeper voice. It isn’t much heavier but is more sizeable to hold.
The hide is from Reindeer who run wild on the Scandinavian tundra. Each year they are brought down and the older ones carefully selected for the cull in a tradition that has spanned thousands of years. Their meat is an important food source, and their skins are a by-product of this process.
The overarching energy of Reindeer is perseverance. The reindeer has an incredible ability to persevere under challenging environments and across great distances, some travelling as far as 3,000 miles in one season.
Their energy teaches us that great things are possible in our lives. In their surefootedness, they can support us to utilise our internal gifts so that we can be as equally sure-footed in any situation. This helps us to easily walk through any challenges which may come our way as we walk our path to realise our dreams.
Within each drum, we embed a crystal and craft a fluffy handle, which makes the drum comfortable to hold for those longer drumming sessions.
The Birthing of Your Drum
Once we have birthed your drum, we will carry out a special awakening ceremony. We will call in the four directions Earth, Air, Fire and Water, smudge your drum with a special awakening incense and call in the Spirit of the Drum.
To birth your drum, we spend time preparing your hoop by sanding it down, painting on the Triskele motif and finishing it with a layer of bee’s wax, from rescued bees in Lancashire, to bring out the beautiful grain in the wood.
The ash drum frame is made locally by a carpenter.
Sourcing locally and as ethically as possible is important to us, and we take care to understand where all of our materials come from.
We will bind the hoop in coloured suede, cut out the reindeer hide and then carefully craft your drum.
Your drum will take around seven days to dry as we don’t rush the drying process, and instead allow your drum to dry.
Then once we have fixed the crystal handle, we will post your drum to you via our courier.
