The search for our own personal quest

For me life here on Earth is like something out of the movies… the Bourne Identify film springs to my mind to help me explain what I mean.

In the film, Bourne finds himself with no recollection of who he is, where he is, or any memories of his past. The plot thickens as he pieces things together, ever in pursuit in the quest for good against evil.

I can draw so many parallels with this!  We arrive on Earth with our memory wiped, into a crazy world in may ways. As we grow up and find our own way in the world we are presented with a  choice. We could keep our heads low, knuckle down and let the madness prevail. Or we could listen to the whispers deep inside us telling us there is another way, and work to bringing this into reality.

The Bourne Identify wouldn’t have been much of a film if the main character decided to ignore the call! Good would not have prevailed and he would not have stayed true to his core values.

Presented with that choice it’s up to us which path we take. It was not always that way, as little as 400 years ago I would have been burnt at the stake for writing this blog – a mere gnats breath away considering humans have been around for the last 250,000 years.

It reminds me of the point in the Beauty and the Beast, when Belles’ father takes off into the forest and chooses to take the dark mysterious path rather than the glowing sunny path. It’s that point in the story which is pivotal in creating the whole story.

So we decide to be brave and take the less trodden path. But how do we know where to go? Who do we take guidance and advice from? Where do we find support?

At this crucial time in our journey as the human species, when we balance on the threshold of wiping ourselves out in a few generations or birthing something beautiful, its never been more important that we find our path and walk it.

Shamans across the world will tell you that we can follow guidelines taught here by others, but the only way to really learn is to connect with our own guides, take ownership of our wisdom seeking and know where to hear the subtle voices of direction and prompting. That is where all the information we need resides.

How do we do this? How do we try to make sure we keep on course? How do we find our true life purpose and fulfill it in these precious times?

We at The Way of the Buzzard have created The Quest, a weekend retreat to delve into these questions and begin to find the answers, to put each of us well and truly on our quest.
