The call of the Green Man

December 22, 2014

1409a101-EditWe thought we had chanced upon this remarkable site, Robin Hoods Stride in Derbyshire, but of course we didn’t. I have come to learn nothing important ever happens chance.

A shrine to the Green Man, our ancestors would have visited this natural cathedral to connect in with his energy and work with it in ways that we are yet to be shown, that we can’t even comprehend. I have learnt this too. There is so much of the ancient way ready for us to learn, if we are open to it, connected and give it space and time.

And we were given both space and time to prepare for our first earth clearing ritual. We first journeyed to the spirit of Robin Hoods Stride in the autumn of 2012, and were guided to come back on the closest full moon to Imbolc, after dark.

He wasn’t best pleased to see us to say the least, a huge serpent who swirled between the two turrets, angry, fierce, demanding us to turn back. The Bogart was out to get us as well, in fact its fair to say we weren’t welcome at all. Only by the Green Man, who as standing in the side lines on the adjacent hill, watching, expectant, knowing, willing us to carry on.

They say bad things happen in threes, and sure enough a group of tall dark hooded beings came and surrounded us, evil, deathly, we had to call in the darkest energies to keep them at bay. With Hades standing over us swirling his fiery ball and chain, and Hel and The Morrighan standing either side of him, we were safe.

1409a148-EditAfter receiving the information we needed, we left and patiently awaited Imbolc. When it came it was a cold, crisp night. Snow covered the ground, glistening under the moons shine. We trekked across to the rocks, and hunted out the cave where we were to do our ritual. The fire kept us warm, and the sage-filled air kept us pure, safe inside our protective circle. Jason moved the Bogart on, and crossed over the souls of six children, trapped in this place in a state of confusion, fear and abandonment.

We celebrated, with singing and feasting, reveling in our work as we passed around the mead. We welcomed in the Sidhe realm, joined by the Horned God Cernnunos himself. We had done our work, we had released the anchor at this extraordinary site, and embarked on another crucial step in our earth-healing journey.

We had been guided to bring back the Green Man, and as we follow our path we are coming to realise why. Information unfolds to us every week, and when we are ready, we will share our Green Man insights with the world.

Remember, nothing important ever happens by chance. As Einstein once said ‘co-incidence is Gods way of staying anonymous’.
