Our new drumming circle in Lancashire

February 5, 2014

Folk have been asking us to run a shamanic drumming circle in Lancashire for quite a while now and at long last we are putting one in place. Finding a venue has been a real problem but thanks to a friend of mine we now have a home in the beautiful headquarters of the Lancashire Wildlife Trust (thank you Anne).

The Barn is a low energy, sustainably built mock Lancashire barn set in the gorgeously rural Cuerden Park just south of Bamber Bridge. There’s plenty of parking, lots of room, tea making facilities and of course ample nature space to work in.

drummingcircleThis circle will serve the Preston and Chorley areas and will be held on the 2nd Monday of the month from April 2014 onwards.

However we are having an introductory session on the 18th of March at 7:30pm to celebrate the Spring Equinox and all are welcome to come along regardless of experience.

You don’t even need to have your own drum or rattle to benefit from and enjoy the circle.

Hand drums, frame drums, djembes and the like are all welcome, however we will be working with shamanic beats to raise the energies, facilitate spirit connection, healings and journeying rather than learning musical rhythms.

Drumming will only make up a part of the evening, with spiritual workings and meditative journeyings, accompanied by the beat of the drum, taking up much of the time.

More details will be posted nearer the time and if you want to be kept informed please enter your details in the box to the right. We are going to try a new pricing method so the cost of the night will be £10 or whatever you can afford.

  1. How much will the sessions cost?, I currently do sound baths and have done a little shaman training and journeying, and would be interested, look forward to it.

    1. Hi Debbie, we are pricing the sessions at ‘£10 or whatever you can afford’. It will be good to have you along with us.
      Best Wishes

  2. Cuerden Park is just up the road from where I live and I take my dogs for their walk in the park. Please keep me inform and hoefully I will be able to attend on the 5th February at 6pm.

  3. Hi Jason,
if you wanted to run one closer to the centre of Wigan, let me know. We’ve just built a Strawbale, lime rendered, clay plastered wood stove heated building on a community allotment site. I’m trying to get regular sessions running from all walks of life there. We’d be looking for £15 per session ( AM/pm/evening) or £30 a day. 🙂

    1. Hi Mark,
this sounds just perfect! Roughly how many people do you think would comfortably fit in the building? I’m sure we can pull something together.

    1. HI Rowan and Cath
thanks for this. We’ll keep you up to date with our plans for a Wigan circle.

      Best wishes

  4. Hi this is good news I live in Fleetwood and have been looking for a local shamanic drum group, so it’s not too far for me once my van is back on the road. I hope I will get to join you in April

    1. Hi Debbie. Yes we are, the circle is going well. Would you like us to notify you of future dates? We meet on the second Monday of each month.

  5. Hi! Jason, I came to the drum circle at St. Agnus a couple of times, but I have moved to Wigan now, and I wondered if anything came of having a circle in the strawbayle hut? I will have to look but I think Bamber bridge may be too far from me.
I even have a drum now, collecting dust 🙁

    1. Hi Amanda, I’m afraid we haven’t set up a drumming circle in Wigan as yet. We may well do one day though. If you want to join us on one of our workshops or retreats you’d be very welcome of course. We also have a full moon celebration taking place at Arbor Low stone circle on Monday which is on our website. Hoping to meet up with you and your new drum soon. 🙂

  6. hi Jason, I’m studying core shamanism at the moment started in October 2015 I study in North wales with Jane Shutt and Christine Marks. it would be so nice if to meet other shamans in the wigan area as It is a Isolating study and a group would be amazing in the wigan area if that could be possible it would be so lovely to meet other shamans in my area to journey with and just general chit chat about shamanic work .

    1. Thank you for your comment Gillian, and for signing up to our newsletter. Our new Chorley drumming circle will be approximately 20 minutes or so away from Wigan and of course you are welcome to come along and join us. I think this is a close as we’ll get to a drumming circle in Wigan for the time being, however we do have other events around that area that will be worth you keeping an eye on.
      Best wishes

  7. I have very keen to get involved in the drumming and have a calling to learn shamanic side of things (it just keep poping up for me).

I would love to come along but don’t drive and live just outside Lancaster, is their anyone who comes from this area who you might be able to put me intouch with.

Also I would love to know more about shamanic teaching also?

I look forward to hearing from you

    1. Hi Matt, sorry for the delay in replying to you. It’s so easy to miss messages on here. We hold the drumming circles at Halton, just to the east of Lancaster. If we let us know where you are from we’ll ask around to see if anyone is nearby. Our main shamanic teaching takes place on our introductory days and during our day long or weekend workshops. We also run specific evening courses mainly during the winter months. Keep an eye on our website for details and sign up to our newsletter if you want to be kept up to date.

Are you still running your shamanic drum circles?
I’m planning to move to Buckshaw Village and I love drumming.
